Rupert Murdoch - Shapes Public Opinion
This serves as an excellent example of a shaper of public opinion. Murdoch discusses his views on U.S. involvement in the war. Although individuals may not agree with our involvement, Murdoch does a tremendous job of explaining the importance of taking a stance.
I feel it is important because he influences an opinion, but his ideas and beliefs tend to at least get others involved. Whether the issue be U.S. at war, or communism, or any given scenario, each person has the ability to take a stance. Murdoch and others that speak out for their beliefs and attempt to persuade, at least promote involvement in any given issue.
It made me think...Do I particularly have my own stance on an issue, or do I merely agree with somebody else's opinion?

It seems he uses his legitimate and expert power well in this situation. He is both well aware of and well versed on the idea of having your own opinion and in stating that he believes it is important to think for yourself, he is encouraging a certain behavior through the use of these powers.
